The Golden Link will have a Valentines Day meal today, with BBQ Ribs, twice baked potato, vegetable, dinner rolls, salad, and strawberry shortcake. The meal for single members is available for lunch, couples meal is at 5:30. Call for reservation at 281-3072. Take out is available.

The Benedictine Living Community in Crookston is celebrating Kindness Week February 14-20. Today is Thank a Veteran day. Monday, February 15 is super hero day. Tuesday, February 16 is crazy sock/hair day. Wednesday, February 17 is PJ day. Thursday, February 18 is tie dye/hippie day. Friday, February 19 is dress like a rock star day. Saturday, February 20 is do a kind deed for someone else day.

North Star 4H Club is sponsoring a Winter Gear Drive. Hats, mittens, and socks are being collected for youth in Polk County in need of warm winter gear. Crookston Public Schools will be closed for President’s Day Monday, February 15.

Crookston City Hall will be closed Monday, February 15. There will be no garbage collection on Monday, February 15. The Monday and Tuesday routes will both be collected on Tuesday, February 16.

The Crookston Public Library will be closed Monday, February 15.

The Polk County Transfer Station will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Monday, February 15 and resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday.

All 10-12th grade students will be having in-person instruction every day at Crookston High School beginning Tuesday, February 16.

The Polk County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, February 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the Polk County Transfer Station.

Benedictine/Villa St Vincent Auxiliary Meeting will be held at the Golden Link on Tuesday February 16 at 11:30am: all are welcome, always accepting new members.

The Golden Link will have men’s cards Wednesday, February 17 at 8 a.m., a board meeting at 9 a.m., and a Lent Soup fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Meatless soups are $4.50 for a pint or $8.00 for a quart. Soups are cheese vegetable, cream of potato, old fashion tomato, vegetable dumpling and vegetable noodle.

Trinity Lutheran Church-Crookston begins the season of Lent by offering a “Drive-through Imposition of Ashes and Blessing” to motorists on Wednesday, February 17 at 12 Noon and again at 5:00 p.m . Drivers should enter the church parking by the Fletcher Street entrance, stay in their vehicle and roll down the window to receive their ashes (by individual cotton swab), and then exit on Ash Street. At 6:30 p.m., Trinity will hold “in-person” worship in the sanctuary. This worship service will be broadcast via KROX 1260AM and 105.7FM, Crookston Cable Channel 3, and streamed live on Facebook.

A Crookston City Council Strategic Planning Session will be held Wednesday, February 17 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. A closed meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. to develop or consider an offer or offers for the purchase of real property pursuant to MN Statute Section 13D.05 Subd. 3 (C)(3).

CONTINUING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Crookston High School has gone to a set weekly schedule unless disrupted by a day off. Each Monday and Thursday is a blue day, Tuesdays and Fridays are Gold Days and Wednesdays are Distance learning for all.

ECFE Full Steam Ahead virtual class for ages birth through Kindergarten entrance is offered once a week. Each week you will be able to listen to a book, sing songs, and do an activity focused on steam. The class is prerecorded and available for you to access at your convenience. The Crookston Friends of the Library meet the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Crookston Library Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15.

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30-6:30 p.m. for 7th-8th graders, and from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for 9th-12th graders. The facility is currently limited to 14 students at one time due to COVID-19. Students and parents should call ahead to check availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149.

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID 19, and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385. The phone is staffed Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Hugo’s Family Marketplace is offering shopping for seniors and people with illnesses from 6-7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 8-9 a.m. Saturdays, and Sundays during the COVID-19 pandemic.
