Pechanga Resort Casino will not do July 4 fireworks show this year

Pechanga Resort Casino near Temecula announced Wednesday, June 24, that it will not be holding its annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

In a news release, the casino cited its nearly three-month coronavirus closure and the need to avoid mass gatherings for public health as the reasons it will not do the show this year..

“We take great pride in bringing a grand fireworks display to our community and to our guests every 4th of July,” Jared Munoa, president of the Pechanga Development Corporation, said in the release. “Although progress has been made in stemming the spread of COVID, there are still too many risks associated with mass gatherings. The health and safety of our guests, team members and community force us to forego this year’s 4th of July fireworks show.”

The casino has typically held a fireworks show either on or around the Fourth of July yearly. In previous years people have parked in an area along Pechanga Parkway near the resort’s gas station for the most up-close views, but the displays have also been visible from nearby residential areas in South Temecula. Last year’s display lasted for about eight minutes.

The announcement by Pechanga follows news that another Temecula area Fourth of July fireworks display, put on by the City of Temecula at Ronald Reagan Sports Park, had been canceled.
